COLOR

Color Switch is a platforming game that was made by David Reichelt. The first version of the game was formerly published and promoted by Fortafy Games, while the newer version is published independently. The official web version of the first version was created by Poki. The aim of the game is to navigate your player (or "ball" as it is referred to in the wiki) to the finish line or end goal (e.g. "cherry" in Fruit mode), or remove all of the obstacles from the screen (Brick, Paddle, Break, Shoot, etc.).

Death in game can be achieved by:

  • Touching a surface that is a colour which is not your own.
  • Touching lava, void, or a similar substance at the bottom or top of the screen.
  • Letting a ball leave the screen from the bottom by missing it with your paddle.
  • Missing your target of a block the same colour as yours or hitting one which is not.

Each mode can have one of 8 actions when the player taps the screen. (Jump, Slide, Switch Direction, Glide, Turn, Shoot, Move Obstacles, or Slow Down Speed). There are at least 50 levels per mode, and usually an endless mode added about a week after release of the aforementioned mode. Most modes also contain their own musical loop made by Tom Garnett as well, although songs have been reused before.

Synopsis[]

"You must follow the color pattern on each obstacle to cross it.

Tap the ball carefully through each obstacle and your ball will switch color with some powerups. You must follow the color pattern on each obstacle to cross it.

Be careful not to pass through the wrong color, or you'll have to start again."

Balls[]

There are a total of 270 balls in the first version, and a total of 206 balls in the second version.

Game Modes[]

In the first version, there were a total of 56 game modes, while there are currently 31 game modes in the second version. These game modes mostly offer styles of gameplay that are different from the core gameplay of the game.

Some game modes also have an Endless mode, where you can play for an infinite time until you hit something. Scores are usually based from the stars that are collected in each endless playthrough. In the first version there are 42 game modes that have endless game modes, while there are currently 27 in the second version.

Music[]

All music in the game is made by Tom Garnett, a British DJ who specializes in Deep House music. Half of the songs used in Color Switch are simplified and often instumentalized versions of his prior music. This trend has faded as of late though.

Endless[]

This mode, you can play for infinite time until you hit something. Every time you retry, the obstacles are randomized.
